Indian Plastics Institute organized 7th International Conference on “Innovations in Plastics Packaging” on 23rd & 24th April 10 in Mumbai at Hyatt Regency, Sahar Road, Mumbai and on 26th April 10 in Delhi at India Habitat Centre, Lodi Road, New Delhi.
In Mumbai around -160- delegates participated in the seminar. During the inaugural session, Shri.Ashok Goel, President of Plastindia Foundation was the Chief Guest of the conference & Shri.S.K.Ray, Sr.Executive Vice President, Polymer Group, RIL was the Keynote Speaker of the conference.
Mr.Ashok Goel in his speech shared the story of innovation in Essel Propack as well as how Plastindia Foundation is trying to help the plastic industry in building the innovation culture. Further, he said that innovation is the mantra of our future success in the current economic environment. This combined with an increasing pressure to tackle the ‘ecological challenge’, make it the perfect time for industry to show how they can add value to their offering and thus plastic packaging can play a pivotal role in this defining moment.
Mr.S.K.Ray – Keynote Speaker of the conference gave an impressive presentation covering the Global Economic Outlook by 2014, followed by Indian Economic Growth indicators by 2020. He said that packaging industry will be one of the world’s largest & diverse manufacturing sectors. Besides, the Indian Packaging market size would be around Rs.70,000.00 crores. He also presented a path for sustainable growth of the packaging industry and at the same time encouraged Recycling of Plastics for a greener environment.
Mr.Francis Pinto, Chairman GC of IPI welcomed all the delegates and dignitaries who have joined the conference. He also briefed the audience about IPI & its myriad activities.
Mr.Sriman Banerjee, Chairman, International Conference briefed the audience About this Conference. He mentioned that Packaging is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Amongst all packaging material, plastic is the fastest growing raw material.
Mr.Hemant Minocha, Hon. Secretary proposed the vote of thanks to the audience. He was the Master of Ceremonies of the event and conducted the programme professionally.
In Mumbai there were -7- Technical Sessions spread over two days. There were -16- speakers from various Corporates sharing their presentations with the audience. All the presentations were well appreciated and received by the participants. There were also Q & A session arranged after the completion of every Technical Session & it was well conducted and participated by most of the delegates.
Finally during the closing session, Mr.Saurabh Khemani summarized the two days proceedings and thanked all the speakers and Session Chairmen for participating in the conference more actively.
In Delhi around -150- delegates participated in the Inaugural Session of the conference. Shri.Vagish Dixit, Managing Director, M/s. Alpla India (P) Ltd., was the Chief Guest of the conference. Shri.N.C.Saha, Director, Indian Institute of Packaging was the Keynote Speaker. There were three Technical Sessions in New Delhi. All the presentations were well appreciated by the audience.
