IPI SILVER JUBILEE FUNCTION
BY CHANDIGARH SUB CHAPTER, on 5th June 2010

IPI Chandigarh sub chapter successfully celebrated the silver jubilee function of IPI on 5th June 2010 in Hotel G.K.International . The event was well attended by members , guests and dignitaries. Mr. V.B.Lall had kindly consented to be the chief guest for the function.

Mr. Ashok Gupta ( Vice Chairman, IPI Chandigarh Sub-Chapter ) welcomed all the guests and presented bouquets to Mr. V. B. Lall (Chairman, Silver Jubilee Committee), Mr. M. S.Battu ( Head, Marketing, HMEL ) and  Mr. Debasish Roy (Chief Manager, Petrochemical, GAIL).  IPI Chandigarh presented a summary of all the work done in the past years through presentation of photos.

Mr. Ashok Gupta briefed about some of the activities of IPI Chandigarh

•    Prof. Kamath Memorial Endowment Lecture on Plastics in Environment,
•    Inter-School Poster Competition  & Awareness Talk on "PLASTICS ARE ECO FRIENDLY"
•    Meeting on Polypropylene & Polymer Industry in Punjab
•    Two Day WORKSHOP on SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT WITH EMPHASIS ON PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT which was jointly organized with Indian Centre for Plastics in Environment (ICPE), and was supported by Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India, NITTR and  All India Plastic Manufacturers Association
•    Polyquiz for students based on plastics.
•    National seminar on polymers and applications
•    Two day workshop on Opportunities in plastics for young entrepreneurs
•    Two day seminar on Challenges in Plastic Industry in Panjab University
•    Seminars to avoid ban on plastic bags with NGO”S and  many more…

Being environment day Mr. Ashok Gupta also stressed on proper use of plastics and their benefits.

Then  Mr. M.S.Battu ( HPCL, Mittal energy limited )  gave a very knowledgeable presentation on current and future trends on plastics .

The second presentation was given by Dr. Debasish Roy ( Gas authority of India Limited ) on polymers and also educated people about new kind of polymers coming in the market.

A question answer session followed thereafter regarding the presentations.

Mr. Mahabal ( Reliance ) presented 35 participation certificates  of IPI Polyquiz 2010 to a student of Punjab university which was conducted in the month of April.

Mr. V.B.Lall addressed the audience and gave them insight into the programs and workshops being conducted by IPI. He also praised Chandigarh chapter for the high level of workshops and lectures we conduct . He also mentioned that Chandigarh sub chapter could soon become a full fledged chapter  with support of all members and plastics industry. He also congratulated IPI Chandigarh for using plastics to create mementos instead of glass or any other material.

In the felicitation ceremony, an account of work done and brief profile of all the past chairmen was cited.  Mr. V.B.Lall presented  memento on the occasion of silver jubilee of IPI to them and all past chairmen spoke a few words. Following are the past chairmen whom we honored.

Dr. D.K.Vohra   – Chairman for the year 1994-1997, 1998-2000
Dr. Daljit Singh  – Chairman for the year 1998-1999
Dr. Y.K.Anand – Chairman for the year 2003 – 2006
Mr. Ashok Gupta – Chairman for the year  2000-2003 , 2006- 2008
Dr. Paramjit Singh – Chairman for the year 1997-1998, 2008-2010
Mrs. V.B.Lall also presented bouquets to wives of all past chairmen.

Mr. Lakra ( Secretary, IPI Delhi Chapter )  also said a few words about IPI Chandigarh.
Dr. Paramjit Singh (Present chairman, IPI Chandigarh) could not be present at the function due to some unavoidable reasons.
Finally Mr. Sanjeev Gupta ( Secretary, IPI Chandigarh ) offered a  vote of thanks .

I would request you to go through the report and continue your patronage and support given to IPI, so that we can grow the Chandigarh Sub chapter by leaps and bounds in the years to come and make it a full fledged chapter.
