SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS AND SEMINAR

IPI Pune Chapter celebrated the Silver Jubilee on 11th  June 2010 at Hotel President , Prabhat  Road . An exclusive seminar on Specialty Polymers was organized as a part of the celebrations. The Chief Guest for the function  was Dr S Sivaram , The Director of NCL. Mr Francis Pinto, Chairman Governing Council, Dr Prakash Trivedi, Vice Chairman IPI Governing Council and  Dr Shenoy, Hon Treasurer IPI were also present during the event.

Dr S Radhakrishnan , Chairman IPI Pune chapter welcomed the guests and introduced the Chief Guest to the audience by recounting his contributions and achievements in the area of Polymer Science at NCL, Pune and how it supported the growth of plastics industry.

Dr Sivaram in his speech mentioned about the importance of Plastics and how IPI must help in creating good manpower in the Plastic Industry as well as in research and development. Mr Pinto congratulated the Pune chapter for their number of activities taken up recently. He described the IPI organization as a whole and  the important role it has played over the past years in Plastics Industry and Education. Dr Trivedi  spoke about the importance of the e -learning platform of IPI  and mentioned about starting Students Chapters at different locations.

Amongst the Former Chairmen of Pune Chapters viz. Mr.A. Athaley, Mr RM Telang, Mr Arun Kumbhojkar, Mr Sardesai were present and they were felicitated for their role and contributions to IPI Pune Chapter. Mr  Raman Patel senior IPI member was also felicitated on the occasion.  Two members of the chapter namely Dr Rajeev Basargekar and  Mr Siddharth Roy were presented with FIPI certificates for their work and contribution to IPI.

All life members of the Association were presented with a small memento as a token of appreciation for their association with IPI Pune Chapter.

There were three excellent technical presentations on Specialty Polymers. The first presentation was by Dr H P Natu from Gharda chemicals on the topic of  “High Temperature High performance Engineering Thermoplastics : GPAEK” . This was followed by the presentation on the topic “Orgalloy & Rilsan Clear: Properties and Applications”  By Mr.Mandar Amrute, Arkema from Mumbai.  The third  presentation was made by  Mr Rohit Thawani, Managing Director  Renata Precision Components Pvt.Ltd., Pune on the topic:  Specialty Polymers - From component Design to Series Production.

Dr.Milind Mhalgi, Vice Chairman of IPI Pune Chapter conducted the event and proposed the vote of thanks.  Mr.Sameer Joshi, Mrs.A.Kahre and other volunteers helped in organizing the event.

Over 90 delegates from the Plastic Industry in and around Pune attended the seminar and the silver jubilee function. The evening ended with cocktails and dinner.
