Shri. Kamal P. Nanavaty is one of the most internationally respected and recognized plastic technocrats of India.

Shri. Nanavaty is a Chemical Engineer from University of Utah, USA, with over -40- years of rich and multifunctional experiences in Research, General Management, and Industrial sales & Marketing. He is an expert in building organizations from the start and steering new project implementations.

Shri. Kamalbhai, as he is popularly known, is presently heading Reliance Industries Ltd as President – Polymer & Cracker business having a turnover of Rs.32,200 crores with marketing sales force of over 500 persons located at 25 Indian cities and three overseas countries.

Starting his career with USI Chemicals, USA during the year 1970-72, Shri. Kamalbhai returned to India and was associated with IPCL, in which, he was involved with Polymer, Chemicals & F & FI business and products, under various capacities of Business Head as well as Regional Head of Baroda & Mumbai. While at IPCL, he helped significantly in the development of Polymer Processing Sector in India.

From the year 1989, Shri. Kamalbhai has been working with Reliance Industries Ltd. and has played key role in developing Reliance Industries Ltd – Polymer & Cracker Business.

Shri. Kamalbhai played an important role in the setting up of Petrochemical Business in Reliance Industries Ltd in the year 1989 and helped established markets for products with diverse technologies and spearheaded Reliance to No.1 position in India and 11th globally in polymer in subsequent years with now 4.5 Million MTA polymer business and a turnover of Rs.26,000 crores.

Shri. Kamalbhai has also made immense contribution in Reliance Infocom as well as in Reliance Retail.

Shri. Kamalbhai is associated with Indian Plastics Institute right from its nascent stage as a Life Member. He has always extended his valuable support and assistance to IPI in various capacities as a chief sponsor of seminars & symposiums among others and in particular as a key note speaker.

Shri. Kamalbhai was a ardent supporter of Plastic Processing Operators Scheme (PPOT) initiated by Indian Plastics Institute. He was a visiting faculty of UDCT for one year giving lectures on Polymer industry for the benefit of student community. He is also associated with ICPE for many years and has played a key role in supporting the cause of plastics and related issues.

His involvement with Plastindia Foundation goes way back to the year 1987.  He wasone of the supporters of Plastindia Foundation to encourage UDCT and CIPET in their Educational & Technical activities. He was in charge of publicity during the 1st Plastindia Exhibition and rendered commendable job in marketing the exhibition successfully both in India and abroad as well.

He is a member of American Chemistry Council. He is also member of SPE (Indian Section) and The Founders Club of Petrochemical Industry, USA.

Shri.Kamalbhai was elected as a Honorary Fellow of India Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2001. Recently he was nominated as the member of the 1st Gandhinagar (GN) Advisory Council. Besides, he is the Chairman of APIC 2010 Organizing Committee and Vice President and Member of Coordination Committee. Shri. Kamalbhai has delivered many Key note addresses in conferences of international repute like APIC, NPRA, SPI, CMAI, Chemical week, ICIS, Plastindia Foundation.

Shri. Kamalbhai is a role model for present generation of plastic professionals. In recognition of his contribution towards the Indian Plastics Institute and the plastic fraternity in general, this day, the Indian Plastics Institute has duly resolved, to bestow upon Shri. Kamal P. Nanavaty:
